- This mount is an arm mount and as such it does sag and twist when a display is mounted. It may sag as much as 4 inches. The sag is enough that you will notice it easily by looking at the mount from the side. Although it sags, it will not break. The mount is rated to hold 165 lbs and to achieve this rating it is actually tested at 330 lbs. Most 42-52" displays only weigh around 80-90 lbs and are well below the weight capacity of the mount.
- One way to offset the sag affect is to place additional washers or some other form of spacer between the bottom of your wall plate and the wall when you mount the display. This angles the wall plate upward slightly and helps offset the downward sag of the arm.
- You may also experience twist with the mount. Todays large displays are rectangular and are often not exactly weight balanced. That is, one side of the display is heavier than the other. The heavier side of the display will sag more than the lighter side and this puts a twisting force on the arm causing the dispaly to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise. Again, depending on your display, you may see as much as 2 inches of twist.
- Similar to sag above, you can offset a certain amount of twist by modifying the installation. There is a little bit of extra space between the wall screws and the edges of the wall plate mounting slots. If you don't screw the wall screws all the way into the studs and instead stop with about 1/8 of an inch to go, you can rotate the wall plate slightly clockwise or counterclockwise to offset some twist. Once you rotate the wall palte as much as possible in the opposite direction of your twist, go ahead and screw the wall screws in the final 1/8 inch.
- If you are concerned about experiencing sag and twist, please note that we sell 4 different models of arm mounts for large displays. The dual arm mounts experience far less sag and twist than the single arm mounts. Additionally, our top of the line professional dual arm mount typically sags less than one inch and it includes a rotational TV plate which completely eliminates any twist effect. Our single arm models are a very cost effective solution and do provide 25" of extension and full side to side swivel. But if you are concerned about sag and twist our dual arm models provide teh same functions with increased stability.
